[Ilugc] mail server/proxy server

my question is that i want to install a mailserver , but whether to use
the same static IP and configure in the same machine or....go one for
another machine and configure a mail server with a differnt static IP??
and route all incoming and outgoing traffic for the second IP through
the first machine in which the firewall in configured.
If you do install a mailserver and a proxy on the same machine, please
make absolutely sure that the proxy doesn't pass HTTP CONNECT requests -
something like
CONNECT localhost:25 HTTP/1.1
could just make it very easy for spammers to proxy smtp commands through
your proxy server.
