i have 8gb hdd and 64mb ram
i partitioned hdd 4 for win98 and 4 for linux 9.0 redhat.
4 GB is not enough to install everything on the redhat 9 CDs. You need
more than 6GB. But if you went with the "default" package selection you
should probably be fine.
when i installed linux it shows low memmory and shows message as "will
and after installation i am not able to get the gui support if i get gui
mouse and keyboard doesnot work.pls provide me some sollution.
256 MB is needed to run kde or gnome. It will run with 128 MB, but will swap
constantly. With 64 MB you should probably be able to use windowmaker or some
other lightweight WM which you can configure using "switchdesk". But keep in
mind that if you run mozilla/openoffice or just about anything apart from
xterm, you'll quickly run out of memory.
Bottom line: buy more memory or use redhat 7.x (or some other distro).
Q: Do you ever think about quantum computing?
Linus: I think that's a load of bull.
(From a Linux Lunacy cruise interview. After the presumptuous disparagement
of QC, Linus goes on to confuse it with DNA computing.)
