This is news to me. Though I did not study computer science / IT from
madras univ, I did have the chance to get along with a couple of friends
who did CS/IT in Madras Univ. AFAIK they weren't taught even a trace of
anything UNIX. The irony was that we (electrical engg.,) were taught
UNIX.
Now that is a significant improvement. If they teach anything UNIX, we
can easily convince them to teach GNU/Linux.

You could join the Demo@Schools project. So far we have conducted a demo
at a school in chromepet. We are also teaching free software to the
students there and we are seeing a great response / enthusiasm from the
student community. We are all gearing up for another demo at Velammal
matric. school, Anna Nagar.
We have ideas of conducting demos at colleges too, but right now we
lack volunteers. You could make this possible by joining us and finding
ways of conducting demos at colleges.
