hey all,
i have been a keen observer of the group and certainly not a contributer by any
means.BTW i am doing my 3rd year CS engineering in madras.And i couldn't help
but wonder , how you wonderful people will actually start doing something about
"selling" linux to people in Tamil Nadu.
Well let me tell you soemthing , MADRAS University is doing its bit.Last sem i
had DBMS lab and OS lab ,DBMS was of course on WINDOWs , while in OS lab , we
workked the internals of Linux , as far as our teacher could......
This sem ( no. 6 ) , i have System S/W lab and Networking lab , and both are on
the Linux platform.So that can't be bad.But still i feel that people in my
class are not really into linux as theya re simply not comfortable with it.Only
after my course incharge threatened students that they wuld lose marks in their
internals that they actually installed linux on their systems.
Also i know for a fact that the college's IT and CSE dept. spends tons of money
in buying propeitary S/W simply bcos they are unaware that better alternatives
exist.
How can i as a student , help in propagating the holy cause of linux , at a
level which is undoubtedly far more powerful than any other.
I am open to your comments and suggetions to help in this crusade to make the
world a better place.
