<DIV>mysql-3.22.32-pc-linux-gnu-i686, </DIV>
<DIV>PHP-4.2.3, </DIV>
<DIV>apache-1.3.12. </DIV>
<DIV>I renamed the php.ini-dist to php.in and placed it in the directory
/usr/local/lib/php. When I execute phpinfo(), i could able to get my php
default configuration details , my configuration script during php install is
<BR>./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache_1.3.12/bin/apxs
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql-3.22.32-pc-linux-gnu-i686
--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib --with-png-dir=/usr/lib --with-zlib-dir=/usr/lib
--with-pdflib-dir=/usr/local/pdflib-4.0.3-Linux --enable-trans-sid
--enable-memory-limit --enable-track-vars.<BR>I then changed my php.ini file
like enabling global_variables (from Off to On) and ran the phpinfo() again but
i got the default configuration details with global_variables=Off, none of the
modifications made to php.ini was reflected in the browser. I also restarted
the web browser but the default details alone get reflected as output. </DIV>
<DIV>I also tested echo $PHP_SELF; in a separate php file but nothing was
returned to the browser, although i enabled track vars (see my configuration
script). <BR>Iam stranded here, i could not able to understand from where the
phpinfo() is generated, as the path for php.ini&nbsp;is given as /usr/local/lib
from&nbsp;phpinfo(), but actually i had placed the php.ini file in
/usr/local/lib/php.ini. PHP gurus help me out. I hope Mr. Sreenivasan too will
go through this email, i had attended his talk on PHP conducted by chennai
