Well written Prabhu. I dont see it as a flame.
The key point is, what is the role of ILUGC?
If we discuss/demo prop. sw, are we endorsing it?
What about those of us who have a personal need (and
professional ) to work with them? though we agree with
the principles of GPL/FSF and/or OpenSource?
Like Prabhu said please explain the choices and their
implications but do not enforce; otherwise GPL/FSF is
as tyrannical as prop. sw.
After all if we draw lines to the limits of our knowledge
I may not know that a 'evil sw' was used to design the
proteins that form part of a medicine I need. Okay; now
I come to know. What do I do?
Whatever I do it is my choice.

Prison? What? If there is no free software equivalent its not a
choice you have. Let me get the analogy straight. Free software is
freedom in the free world, commercial software is prison. Ok, so far
so good. But if there is no free software there is no free world.
Your world consists of a prison then thats all you have, that *is*
your world. Besides who said the world is free. There are rules and
remember make sure your fist doesn't hit my nose is one of them. The
world is a prison, we just like to think that we are free.
BTW, lets say you design big IC's or microprocessors etc. You cant
get free software to do the job. Period. If you are so "ethical"
dont use PC's. Its a sacrifice to make remember. Give up your

Yes, like stop using computers etc. If you are so keen on freedom,
renounce the world and become a Sanyasi. Its the ultimate sacrifice
and you will be free. At any rate you'll be free of my flames.

Please dont bring morality here.
What religion and morality are you preaching, Swami Suraj of the GPL
order? ;D <grinning, ducking and running like hell for cover>
p.s. Man, I'm in a good mood today!! I never knew flaming could be so
much fun. ;D Ooh, yeah I'll grant you that, maybe I *am* evil
