I've loaded RHL many times over on so many different machines that I've lost
count. I've never had a problem with X except in 1MB VGA machines where the
probe does not recognise the card. When it came to my personal machine,
Murphy's law took over.
I forgot to mention in my previous mail that I killed gpm and still the
pointer is elusive. I guess it would then not be a function of gpm.
Another luggie had said he had problems with touch pads. On Toshiba
notebooks, it works well on standard install - have had no problems.
Is there an issue of pointer image being generated by the graphics card in
such high end cards? I'd hate to downgrade it to standard VGA to see if this
works - what a compromise?

Bus Mice have a 'single-open' limitation which prevents you from using
both GPM and the X Window System at the same time. To over come this you
have to setup gpm as a repeater. My PS2 mouse has the same problem that
you have mentioned and this is what is in my gpm.conf:
