Bus Mice have a 'single-open' limitation which prevents you from using
both GPM and the X Window System at the same time. To over come this you
have to setup gpm as a repeater. My PS2 mouse has the same problem that
you have mentioned and this is what is in my gpm.conf:

Also you have to make XF86 use /dev/gpmdata as its pointer Device
instead of /dev/psaux.
