hi,
I am using RH7.2 with linux 2.4.17 kernel. When I try to login to this
machine (with telnet or in system console) it asks for username and passwd.
Once I give the passwd it takes long time and then I get a message saying
that it is timed out.
So I have entered into the system in single user mode and enabled sshd. Now
I am able to login to the system with ssh, but it takes long time after
issuing the passwd. (It connects quickly but takes long time for
authentication).
In logs I get the following message
while logging in thru console
Sep 14 11:37:17 q-mac /sbin/mingetty[740]: tty2: invalid character ^[ in
login name
while logging in thru ssh
Sep 14 21:32:52 q-mac sshd[1308]: Setting tty modes failed: Invalid argument
is this the culprit. Does anyone know how to solve it.
