[Ilugc] SiS 6215c SVGA cardproblem: Desktop not displayed properly

Yes, I do have a SiS card (6326), my older card was 6215. I would
suggest you to download the 4.x X servers (either source or binary) and
give a try. They definitely support SiS cards with good display
resolutions.

dear Mr. Gopal
thanks for taking the time to reply.
i use XFree86 3.3.6.
and yes i have tried xf86config. i have gone through the rigmarole of
configuring the X server, but the resolution is not quite there.
i presume there is a problem in the linux support for SiS . (i
remember learnt that this might be a bug in the Linux driver for this
particular brand of video cards)
hence i would be grateful if any one using SiS video cards under linux
could point me towards the website where they got the drivers or how
they were able to get the correct display
many thanks in advance

Hey
What version of X do you use? If you use anything greater than
4.x,
try:
# XFree86 -configure
# XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new
---- If you're not satisfied with the display, edit the file
----
# cp /root/XF86Config.new /etc/X11/XF86Config
If you're using an old version of X (probably 3.3.6 or
something like
that), try:
# xf86config
