I am planning to increase the maximum number of loop devices by editing

plan to make it to 24 instead of default maximum 8.
I am sorry abou the early question since I just now came to know that
for kernels > 2.2, there is no need for recompilation of the kernel to
do this. I found this from
http://www.linux.com/howtos/CDServer-HOWTO/addloops.shtml
But anyways, does this degrades the performance?
Thanks and Regards,
Praveen.
