* You cannot telnet as user root.
Could you able to do telnet and ftp locally, i.e 'telnet/ftp localhost' from
your telnet/ftp server.
For telnet if you could then it may be problem with your firewall.
For ftp i am not used to wu-ftpd,i am using vsftpd, so i think others may
help you. Probably you should check out the configuration file. For vsftpd
i had to configure lot of things.
