i have installed a new VIA C3, a MAXTOR 30Gb HDD and=20
64 Mb SDRAM in my PC. The PC hosts a secondhand 810e=20
motherboard.
Problem is that the PC sometimes unexpectedly reboots.
i am not able to find the reason. My initial observation
is that it reboots when load is high on the HDD. Like,
while i was installing Fedora, it rebooted when the=20
installation was 7% complete. I ran the PC for 5 hours
on Knoppix, after disconnecting the HDD.=20
However, i was able to successfully install the Debian
3.0 base, which took some 15 min to install. And i can=20
boot into it now. But after login in, while i was=20
installing gcc, the PC rebooted halfway thru the=20
installation.
Any tool to know if there is any defect in the HDD,=20
which would make it trip the PC ? Any other clue ?
