I've been following this thread and the one on name change which evoked a
lot of emotion packed mails etc. While I do agree that we can express our
views freely in a group like this, making them personal and remarks about
attitudes do not augur well for the maturity of the group.
If we could avoid such mails or reactions consciously, I guess this will die
down automatically. This is my request to all members to ensure that
constructive ideas get exchanged and members do not exit the group based on
such occurances. Moreover, new members may be misled about the coherence of
the group if they see such mails within days of joining the group.

If I try to live by all the proverbs, aphorisms and sayings
that can be thrown at me I will be a sorry person indeed.
It appears to me that many advocates of freedom are often close to violating
my freedom by calling me and my attitude names.
I hope ILUGC stands for freedom rather than some
people's idea of it.
Debate is definitely part f that freedom and having my
beliefs and attitudes questioned is part of that freedom too.
But labelling my attitude is not.

Prabhu posts:
but changing ILUGC's name is a pain, and of not much use.
I was commenting on Roopa's post of selling GNU/Linux CDs. No, I was
not requesting anyone to change ILUGC's name. You are posting as if
`the pot calling the kettle black'.
Now that you have raised this issue, permit me to clarify things a wee
bit. What is Linux ? Linux is a kernel, a kernel by itself cannot be
an OS. What is ILUGC ? ILUGC is the Indian Linux (kernel) User Group
of Chennai. ILUGC == Indian Kernel User Group, Chennai Chapter. ;-)
If people do not want to be free, nobody can help them. It is said
that if one does not yearn for freedom, they are cursed to live in
chains for all Eternity. :(
