[Ilugc] Help - Connecting to Internet through Linux

Hi,
I need a help on connecting to Internet through Linux.I have a dishnet
dialup account.
When i tried to configure,it is asking for the IP address.But i am not
provided with the
IP address of Dishnet.It seems only users with cable modem will be given the
static IP.
What else could be done???Pls suggest some info on this.

Connecting to ISPs is very easy for dial-up users, especially under Linux. The
way you have put your question, I assume that you have installed Redhat or
mandrake or some good distro that has KDE/GNOME et al (at least one of
them..).
Open up the KPPP from the command prompt and enter the details in the fields
as follows:
Add a new account name,
edit it, by adding new user names and the password. give the phone
number,
and also teh dns server addresses, I am sure you have them.
You dont need to enter your static IPs... your IPs will be configured
automatically by PPP daemon.
you can also try wvdial under gnome if you dont have any KDE apps installed.
