Hi!

Interested in knowing the distinctive advantages of
gentoo say over debian on which it is based.

Gentoo is based on FreeBSD ports.

What is this hype over portage?

Easy upgrades, optimizing system to the needs of the
developer, and handling of dependencies, to name a
few.
