Dear All,

Not sure whether this topic has been posted here before or not.

I have a new ethernet card realtek-8139d which is manufactured by Silan
Semiconductor,a chinese company, though Windows XP detects it and uses it as a
Realtek manufactured one .I tried building kernel module(using source code
which came along with the card), in my 2.6 kernel(Redhat EL WS) it is giving a
lot of errors, and after posting in various forums  I could come up with the
fact that this driver is simply not compatible with kernel version 2.6 though
many people are using it with 2.4 kernel .

Also since it is not an original realtek card it is having problems with the in
built driver in RHEL(for realtek..some 8139too).Now I tried using ndiswrapper
but again when i install it i am getting the default device as a WLAN and I am
not able to assign an IP address.I have no clue as to what to do.

Does somebody have a workng version of this driver in 2.6 kernel.

The diaganostics done so far are as follows.

  1) lspci --> gives the pci id. and says unknown device.

2 )when the network service is restarted the message goes like "The device is
not to be found delaying initialisation."

3)modprobe after ndiswrapper has been installed gives an output in the
desired lines.

my card details are ::

PCI Id  : 1904:2031
Chipset : sc92031

Regards
Hari
