Hi,
Select i810 driver.

see if linux can detect the memory as 8 MB. probably has to be set in BIOS
(not sure abt the setting)

1 MB wont be sufficient for 1024*768

try it and let us know if it works

regards,
Sanjay

Hi,
1) How much video memory do  you have?

1 MB as seen from Bios settings. But it has 8mb provision too. I didn't
check it.
2) Whats size of your monitor?
15" Samtron 56v (Driver not listed for this monitor in RH9 installation)

3) Did you specify the correct vertical and horizontal refresh rates? (will
be there in manual. or search the net)
Yes I did.

4) what video driver did u select?
Not sure.

Regards,
Sanjay

Hi,

I have recently bought a computer. I have problems with display in Linux X
windows.

It's a P IV 2.4 Ghz. Has a mercury Intel chipset MB (845GL Chipset). It has
onboard VGA, sound, LAN etc. 256 DDR RAM. 80GB HDD, Samtron 56V col.
monitor. I have made dual booting (WIn-98 & RH9). Windows is working fine.
While RH KDE has problems. The resolution is good when it is kept at
600x800 and would not go higher than that (1024x768, etc) in "thousands of
colors"

But when 256 colors option is selected it can handle 1024x768 but as you
know it is not of good quality. I tried with the frequency settings and
display conifuration file but to no luck. Can you please help with your
solutions?

Thanks,
Franklin
