[Ilugc] Debian install from ftp.iitm.ac.in?

When I was in chennai I used to use iitm mirror and it was faster than
ftp.us or somesuch. But from bangalore, it does seem a bit slower than
ftp.us so I dont  know what state it is in. However,  are you sure you
did apt-get update before the upgrade?

No upgrade... I'm installing. :)

And yes... when I did  it manually later, I did do a apt-get update.

I also ftp'd to the mirror and verified that the files apt-get was trying to 
fetch were missing. 

I then used the mirrors.kernel.org mirror to get them.

Maybe the person incharge of the mirror should fix this?

You can simply setup the http_proxy environment variable, like:

export http_proxy='proxy.whatever.your.domain:<port>' (of course, port
is optional).

I cannot do this at first boot when "base-config new" is run automatically. I 
did do this when I manually completed the install later.
