Dear Mr.Karthik.,
Thanks for the reply first of all.
Iam sure it would work in ur config but not with my config as win98 is in C:
& win xp is in D:
I tried sys D: with a Boot floppy of Win XP , but it did'nt work. I also
manually copied the ntldr , & NTDETECT.com files from C: to D:, but still
without any success. I could'nt make XP to boot, I am clueless :-(

Is there any possibility by which I could get all the 3 options ( ie
and, Win 98 , Win XP ) in the first screen itself.I have successfully done this but with the following config:
c: - win2k
d: - win98
To make grub show all 3 entries, I booted off from a win98 bootable disk
did a ' sys d:'. This will install necessary bootloader and system filesto
boot from d:, without depending on the NT bootloader.added
I then edited my boot.ini in c: to change the timeout value to 0. then
another chainloader entry in grub for d:.See
You need to check only one thing before you can try something like this.
if WinXP in d: can boot even after issuing a sys d:. If it is able toboot,
then you can change the timeout value in boot.ini with default to Win98.
