Assume you are talking about Capture. I don't know the answer to your
question about wholesale replacement, but the ports should have worked.
First thing to do is edit/browse hierarchical ports to make sure your port
names are exactly paired. Then if your ports are in an actual hierarchy
looking for higher level block, they won't connect direct. Even if you have
the blocks in there, they won't show connection in normal drc check, but you
can see them in edit/browse flat netlist. If they are in a hierarchy and you
didn't want that, copy each page to a new flat design.
