Don't forget the part about modifying the schematic
symbol and chips.prt file to include those pins
once the symbol is all upgraded.
I have never had to convert mech pins to regular
ones. I wonder if you can change them somehow?
I can't check it right now cause I gotta
go have a beer with the boss.
Oh, yeah!

Not enough information here. Do you need electrical
connectivity? Do you need them to be in exactly the same
place as they are (not so important)? You could use replace
padstack to put whatever pin or via you have in your library
in the location.
Sorry: I do want them in the same place and I want connectivity. In fact,
I want the same padstack. I just want to convert them from mechanical pins
(no connectivity) to vias (connectivity) but not top pins (excessive pin
numbers).
Of course, keep in mind that if you replace the pins
in the symbol then refresh will put them back to
what they were originally. Or, why not just modify
the symbol to be what you need and refresh it?
This sentence should have been at the top of this email!
:) Yeah, I do want to modify the symbol. It looks like I'll just do it by
hand (delete mech pins, add vias). Not a huge deal, it's just that there
are a bunch of them...
This is one of those operations that i would think would already be in a
tool of this complexity.

I have a footprint where I goofed and put down a bunch of
mechanical pins
instead of vias. It seems I need them to be vias for the derive
connectivity to prevent drcs.
Anyway, is there any way to convert these to vias?
I tried my new "google search of my computer" but didn't
find anything in the docs (or my emails).
