It has worked this way for a while. It was rolled out as part of 15.5.1
and has been there ever since
so you will not need any special patch to get it to work.
Hope this helps,

Raj,
If you are using version 15.7 s037 (v15-7-42BE) then just simply go to
Place/Update Symbol then select the 0402 and Refresh them all. The
deleted silk will come back while Allegro leaves others alone.
I had the same problem when I was at 15.5. In stead of working around
the issue, I called Cadence and they sent out a patch to fix that issue.
I believe that they then bundled that fix into 15.7. It won't be a bad
idea to call Cadence to get that patch to fix that problem once and for
all.

[PCB_FORUM] refresh silkscreen text issue
I have 1000 components with package symbol = 0402, in my first revision
for silkscreen placement I have deleted the violating silkscreen text on
some of these 0402 components(around 300). Now in my new revision I need
to bring back the silkscreen for few 0402 components since I have room
for text placement. If i go for update package symbol checking option
'reset symbol text location' then this resets text on all 0402 symbols..
I tried the workaround of deleting and placing the components for some
diodes ( since they r less in number) to bring the text back. Deleting
and bing back these
anyone has some ideas..please help me out.
Thanks much in advance..
Raj.
