I've always advised people - if you're serious about running the PCB SI
tool, go to the Cadence training course or take the on-line version.
There's a lot you need to know to use the tool effectively, and it helps to
be guided through the "flow" the first few times.

That's my $0.02, your coinage may differ ....

At the basic level, SI is extremely useful for defining topologies (i.e.
the order in which nets are routed.)  I would suggest you start with this
before you move on to full-blown simulation.

We don't have Concept (we use ViewDraw) and it can still be used perfectly
alright.  OK, there may be a couple of glitches like "you should always do
'this' after you load in a netlist", but it's fairly straightforward.

BTW, the training manual for SI is about 500 pages.
