[PCB_FORUM] Re: paste pad on fiducial

I was told by some of the places we use for assembly prefers it to have pads with paste because it's easier for the pick and place machine to recognize it.  That's what I was told so that's what I have been doing.  Might be different for other assembly houses since some of them didnt' complain about it.  Hope this helps.

There was a time this was true.  The vision systems on early pick 'n place machines saw the matte paste better than the relatively shiny HASL.  Don't think that's the case anymore :))

The pick and place machine uses it for alignment.
