[PCB_FORUM] Re: package order

Not a sales pitch.

I attend a presetation last night at the IPC Designer Council meeting
from DesignAdvance. They have a cool product that, If you can afford,
would be a great addition to Allegro.

The tool pushes through the schematic netlist and and will basicly group parts.
Thus making placement easier.

Hope this helps.

Mike,
If only it would, it would be wonderful!

That's what I call instance number a). And it does NOT follow it to package.
I checked it with some examples. If you made another experience please tell
me. Maybe I have to configure some switch to make it happen.

I bet for the geometrical positioning within the page, as if it would scan
up-down left-right the components.
But the order how it gets into hierarchical blocks is still unclear to me.

Does anybody use Module Order with success? What for?

Carlos

I believe the packager follows the path property for
assigning, every time you put a component down it and
save the schematic it assigns a path number. If you delete
a comp and replace it with another comp a different path
will show. Not sure if there is any other way to control this
        other than a hard location.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] package order

Hi people,

does anybody know what is the order the packager follows to assign REFDES
to
the instances drawn in Concept?

If I place many Capacitors on a page does it assign C1, C2, C3...
following

a) instance number?
b) geometrical rules?
c) the order I drew the capacitors?

It becomes specially complicated to follow when I use hierarchies.

It seems to fulfill complete hierarchy levels before going down into the
next one, but I don't get what block is packaged first if there are
several
on the same page.

I have been playing around with the Module_order menu but it does not seem
to control it.

Any idea?
