Marcel,
I already know the back annotate process and I even used the reftxt allegro
tool to renumber but even like that it is still complicated to know what
component you are placing.
The whole issue is about placing components. Imagine a hierarchical design
with many similar cells interconnected. The way you place the cells, and
therefore the discrete components within, influences dramatically the
routing.
As it is a hierarchical design it is a pain to use Occurrence Edit and dig
down to find out the refdes assigned by the packager to the components. Also
the interactive mode concept-allegro is not a solution.
I am looking for a way to control the refdes assignment, so that it keeps
some sense with the logical distribution of the schematic.
Thanks and regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
First of all, why do you have a need to re-order the REFDES in schematic ?
MFG and Test prefer to have it done at the board level since it will be
easier to find a part during debug.
For some company, the REFDES re-sequence is done in the geometrical order
(A,B,C ... in Column and 1, 2, 3 in Row). For others, re-sequence in Reading
Order (Left to Right and Top to Bot) is another choice.
The board is then "back-anno" to the schematic to update with all the REFDES
changes.
Thanks and Regards,

[PCB_FORUM] package order
Hi people,
does anybody know what is the order the packager follows to assign REFDES to
the instances drawn in Concept?
If I place many Capacitors on a page does it assign C1, C2, C3... following
a) instance number?
b) geometrical rules?
c) the order I drew the capacitors?
It becomes specially complicated to follow when I use hierarchies.
It seems to fulfill complete hierarchy levels before going down into the
next one, but I don't get what block is packaged first if there are several
on the same page.
I have been playing around with the Module_order menu but it does not seem
to control it.
Any idea?
