Unfortunately that is they way the programmers thought the tools should work.
It would have been too easy to have another gui open, that would allow you to
customize what you are bringing in, map it to the subclasses you want to see it
on, all in one set of commands.
scaling is usually a guess also, especially when dealing with mm and mils.

Hi Folks,
When I import DXF into PCB using File import DXF option, all the data in my
Database vanishes and I am left with only DXF in my board.
I generally export sub drawing of it and import back to my actual board
file. Please let me know why this happens.
I use PCB performance 15.5
