[PCB_FORUM] Re: finding line numbers

Thank You Carolyn.
I learned how to come up with net names back in the day when 8
characters was considered
enough for any situation. This is what I would have come up with back
then: PX4V3FBB

Parentheses in netnames will cause problems - the + and . are probably
not good either. What Shirley suggests is very good.

No wonder! I do believe there are some restricted characters.
Someone needs to let the
person who did the schematic that he doesn't need to write a
novel when he comes up with
        net names.
PCIE_X4_P3P3VAUX_FBASEB probably would be better. No special
characters but it
        still describes the signal.

The net names don't have any spaces in them by any chance?

Group: Seems if i shorten net names the line errors jump to
another line. I thought the net names could be up to 32 characters. Is
this true?

Be sure you check the previous line or few lines. Most of the
time when it reports an error on line XXX
it was because the previous line did not have the correct format
i.e. ; :, etc

        Group: I get Error:Line 334 while running netlist. I know I've
done this before, but notepad, wordpad and words do not give me line
numbers. I remember setting up one of the programs to set up goto. Can
someone refresh my memory on this?
