[PCB_FORUM] Re: concept Hdl - symbole editor- creating discrete....

Could it have something to do with the version of the tool you are using. I
only use the basic package to check

library parts so have not had any need to use those Icons. I do see that in
Tools>Customize you can select the Discrete

toolbar set but as you say it is greyed out. Have you tried using the QuickPick
toolbar? It seems to allow you to get a

drop down menu of parts that have already been used.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Felix

It doesnʼt look like you have received any answer to your question so I will
make an attempt.

You mention generating symbols for caps and I get the idea that you create more
than 1 cap symbol.

Actually the maximum number of symbols for caps, resistors, or any discrete
part is 4. That is providing

the user community you have wants to be able to place caps in any of the 4
orientations.

This allows for the librarian to control the placement of all of the properties.

When you generate the symbol using part developer, you will get a square symbol
and that is because

the tool knows how to place a body outline around any symbol with pins but does
not know the difference

between a 2 pin resistor and a 2 pin cap.

After the Square symbol has been created, you need to descend into the part and
delete the square box and

draw in the graphics that you need for the part to look like a cap. This is the
process that is needed for any

part that has graphics instead of a square or rectangular body.

I hope this helps.

Hi all,

I am using cadence 15.5.1
while generating symbols for caps, i got a squire symbole instead of standard
cap symbol.

so i have to edit squire symbole, and draw the standard caps symbole in symbole
editor.

We have a option for inseart a standard symbols like res, caps, inductor, relay
ect.,in standard
toolbars.

while picking required symbol, that icon was hiding. So i am not able to use
those tool bars.

Is there any way to use these standard discrete symbols in symbole ediotr?

Thank u

Regards
Felix Paul
