Austin,
You can write a routine to format the regular Viewdraw netlist to an
Allegro format or you can manually format it. I have done this in the
past but if you have to do it often then it will become painful fast.
Most of the formatting can be done in a regular text editor by using the
replace function. Of course it would be nice to have an example of a
formatted file for reference.
The second part of the problem comes from not having device files but
you can get around this also by creating the device files from your
Allegro symbols. There is a skill routine you can run inside the symbol
editor that outputs a simple device file. I have seen some people create
these files manually but that just seems like a waste of time since you
can use the skill.
If you are going to be doing this type of work a lot then you may want
to either buy the netlister or contract out this portion of the job to
someone who has the interface. I know several companies that could help.
Last but not least, you may already have the interface you need so
before you spend a lot of time formatting files or generating device
files I would call your Mentor support. Let them know what you need to
do and see if they can help.
Thanks
Tony Cosentino

Hi Sue,
Can you get the .txt files (device files) without having the ViewDraw to
Allegro netlister? The ViewDraw to Allegro netlister is optional and
costs $2500. If you don't have it, or don't want to buy it, there are
other ways to get from ViewDraw to Allegro.
From my current installation of ViewDraw (DxDesigner 2004SP1) the
generic netlister does not output a .tel file as far as I can tell. Is
there a way to get it without having the ViewDraw to Allegro netlister?
Regards,
Austin
