Have you checked the log files for any possible clues?
I seem to remember that when working over the net to a server
there were some issues with the database updating.
I seem to remember that it would update the board on the server
but not the one in memory, or something like that.
I never work on files on the server. I guess I am a bit
paranoid or something. But I worry about the net going
down when I am in the middle of something critical.
Try updating and then reloading the database and
see if that makes any difference. If not try copying the
database to your local machine and updating the symbols.
If that doesn't work, call Cadence and harass them.
I saw this earlier when you posted, sorry for not
responding then.
Good luck,

PSM path and Pad path are good...
I tried place > update parts, and selected the desired part (which I had made changes to) and it said it updated... (even checked the log) but the change never took place. I finally deleted the part and placed it again... worked fine.
BTW I selected update padstack and ignore fixed prop... Nothing.
So why perhaps might UPDATE not work? Anybody run into this? I know it is probably some simple little thing... sigh.
Using 15.1 on a Win2K system, working on networked drives.
Thanks

Working on different design now and I have just one component placed in the design. It will not update. One component... a 24 pin connector that originally was built as a 20 pin connector. I have modified it and added 4 more pins. The original part is not in my library anymore. I expected this to update fairly well as it was the only part in the design (was placing some mechanical related parts first... ).
I went to the commands place > update symbols... selected this one "package symbol" and hit refresh... tool churns for a minute (hourglass) and nothing happens... 20 pin part is still there.
For some odd reason UPDATE will not work... any ideas? Again I can delete it and reselect it and that DOES work.
