[PCB_FORUM] Re: Translating Protel to Allegro PCB file?

This worked fairly well for me. The outer pours came in beautiful but the
negative planes were DOA. Some other stuff did not come in well either, but
overall saved plenty time.

Hi Bob,

I'm not sure...but they are worth a try. I've always wondered why if I can
get a board (say, from PADS) into Specctra (or from Allegro), that I can't
get it back into the other tool...I've never tried it, but have been told it
doesn't work.

Mentor offers a Protel to PADS conversion utility, and I could then ASCII
out from PADS into Allegro is the one I was going to try.

Regards,

Austin

Protel DXP 2004 will allow you to Save As either
Specctra Design File (.dsn) or a SDRC-IDF Board file (.brd)
Will either of those work?
