[PCB_FORUM] Re: Too many text sizes

Sorry, I should have mentioned I was using 14.2.

So far, I've clipped out a subdrawing of everything and read it into a blank
board. I lost the unused text sizes. I dumped a techfile and imported that
as well. It all looks like it worked, but what a pain...

Doug,

If you are using V15.2 see below try "Compact"

BM_1005282define_textdialogboxText Setup Dialog Box

BM_1005293Use this dialog box to assign display characteristics to text in a
design This dialog box provides 64 blocks of text that can be used in a
design. All sizes are specified in user units.

BM_1035972

Text Blk

Identifies the text block by number. When you add text to a design, you
enter the number of the text block you want to use in the Options tab of the
Control Panel.

BM_1035976

Width

Sets the width of each character.

BM_1035980

Height

Sets the height of each character.

BM_1035984

Line Space

Sets the distance between the bottom of the characters in one line to the
top of the characters in the line below.

BM_1035988

Photo Width

Sets the width of the line used to photoplot and display the characters. If
this is 0, the text displays at 1 pixel width on your screen.

BM_1035992

Char Space

Sets the amount of space between characters (kerning).

BM_1035996

Reset

Resets any parameter you have changed in the dialog box back to its previous
setting.

BM_1036031

Reset is only active in the current editing session. When you click OK, your
new changes are accepted and you need to edit the values again to change
them.

BM_1036004

Add

Adds a new text block to the dialog box below the default 16 blocks. Adding
a text block disables the Compact button.

BM_1066252

Compact

Removes unused text blocks and consecutively renumbers remaining blocks in
both the dialog box and the database starting with 1. When you initially
click Compact, the existing Text Blk numbers remain to reflect the text
blocks to be retained, but the next time you open the dialog box, these same
text blocks are consecutively numbered, beginning with 1. If no unused text
blocks exist, Compact is disabled. The Add and Compact buttons are mutually
exclusive. Adding a text block disables the Compact button; compacting text
disables the Add button.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Too many text sizes

All,

I've got a problem with one of my boards. Upon reading in the netlist
and doing a quickplace, I get three parts that won't place. After wading
through the cryptic messages and trying several things, I came to the
conclusion that is it a text block issue.
The board I'm importing the netlist into has 64 different text blocks
defined. Allegro won't allow any more than 64. The new parts I'm trying to
add have different sizes embedded in them. Since Allegro won't allow any
more than 64, it won't read these symbols in.
I know the board isn't using 64 different text sizes, so my question is:
How can I purge unused text definitions? This would allow for new text sizes
to be imported. Has anyone dealt with this issue?

Thanks,

Doug
