[PCB_FORUM] Re: Text as void on plane layers?

Hi Gary,

No, my planes are positive.

I've done these layer indicators many times...just never in Allegro.

Thanks,

Austin

  Hey Austin,

If you have your planes set up as negative, the text will be a void in the
plane.

I do it this way, and always have a layer indicator (called "layertab") on
my boards.

They are format symbols, one or more for 4, 6, 8, 10 etc. layers.

Below is what my negative plane layer looks like for layer 2 of an 8 layer
board.

Notice the blocks (drawn with lines) for layers 1 and 3-8.

You need the blocks to be able to see through the board to the other inner
layer numbers.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  Gary

  Hi,

Can I do text as a void on a plane layer? I have a layer indicator, and
on the signal layers, it's just text...but I want the plane layers to view
the text as a void of the plane, not in a through void.

  Regards,

  Austin
