Hi Richard: You can convert your positive planes to wire keepouts (vias ok) with some spif commands given on the Allegro command prompt prior to exporting the .dsn and rules. set spif_keepout_for_shapes set SPIF_USE_WIRE_KEEPOUT (converts route keepouts (wire and via) to just wire keepout)). If you are auto routing on the layers with the positive plane --> keepouts, you will need to consider the area to various copper (wire, via etc.) clearances, which default to 0 for areas. Appropriate values can be set in Specctra keeping in mind that what ever they are set to, applies to all area instances (keepouts, keepin, etc) A bonus: Specctra runs much faster with many keepouts, than with many positive planes of the same shape. How do I tell Specctra that it's OK to put vias there for other signals?
