[PCB_FORUM] Re: So what was the solution to the shape problem?

Thanks george and others... That was the first thing I thought of... but it
did not help. I then recalled the issue of my librarians building shapes into
parts. That was what it was. There are certain RF parts where the
manufactures call out really bizzare shapes for PWB footprints. These include
voids. The only way to make these "legally" in Cadence is to almost make the
shape, but don't fully close it, and make that a shape symbol. Recently
someone got the idea to just make the entire shape and put in a void and then
make the .psm.

Disaster. These simply do not work. But the worst part is that the tool
points to errors in all the wrong places. I just happened to recall that a
certain person on staff made these parts and sure enough, there was a shape
ebedded in the .psm with a void in it. Pure luck.

Again the real issue is the the tool gives the error, says it is in a shape
beginning at a valid location, then says the error is in some other location...
that has nothing to do with the error... perhaps it might be the zero location
of the .psm in error. At any rate, difficult to find.

Meanwhile, I have to go straighten out a jr CAD person about a few parts...
sigh.

Because of the way dynamic shapes work, the shape fill is probably blanked
because it is under your real shape. Try turning the shape boundaries on:
Display > Color Visibility > Stackup > (whatever layer) Boundary and see if the
shape boundary is visible in that area...

"Film contains DRC error"

Shape at "location" contains void at "different location" which touches another
shape.

Any fix for this... seems some of you Gurus had something. I am now in
version15.2 S032.

The "location" is the starting vertex of the main shape fill. There is nothing
resembling a void or even "another shape" at the problem location.

Thanks
