[PCB_FORUM] Re: Remote Allegro file viewing

SunUp Software (http://www.sun-up.com/) makes an extractor and viewer
that allows you to measure, get information, flip the view over so you
can directly compare the back side of the board you are looking at with
the design files. Works with Cadence (Allegro and OrCAD), Mentor (Board
Station, Veribest, and Pads), GenCAD, or Protel.

Problem is that I don't think they have a free version, it's around
$300.

There is a third party tool called Intercomm from ptc.com that
allows you to export Allegro files and
bring them into their viewer. Not sure how much is costs but they
have a free viewer and I'm pretty
sure that you can cross reference a Concept schematic with the
board. The viewer allows for querying
    many features of the board.

Thanks. I did contact them, here is basically what they said;

"But the best way to show your data is remote desktop sharing only.
There is no other secured method by which you can allow your customer to
view your board."

Hello Peter

No immediate solution, but I agree - the protection is useless.

A solution to this should be requested to Cadence. Given some time today
I will do it myself.

Cheers,
Richard

I need to be able to have a customer look at a BRD file without having
possession of the file itself. As at least some of you know the password
protection in Allegro is useless. My customer wants more than PDF files
and
I need to protect the data. I want the customer to be able to remotely
access the file and be able to at least use the commands of the free
viewer.
Does anyone already have a solution or any suggestions?

Thanks,

Peter
