This would be the time to let the powers that be
that you need that new dual athlon machine!
This is ammo, use it!
They don't want you sitting around while you
wait for your machine, do they? ;^)

Yep. I normally run in rough mode on large boards like this because
operations run faster. But you can't do everything in rough mode (like
island deletion) and sooner or later you have to convert to smooth :)

Have you tried setting the dynamic fill to “Rough”?

*Subject:* [PCB_FORUM] Refreshing Dynamic shapes
Y'all:
I have a large board (15" square) with a bunch of dynamic shapes on
it (~400). This board has disabled the shape regeneration
about three times without asking, usually after doing a lot of line
slides and such inside one or another of the shapes or
replacing/refreshing modules. I can't find any reproducible reason
for this happening so I can't report it as a bug thru official
channels to Cadence.
The biggest problem is that it is a BIG time hit waiting for all the
shapes to regenerate after changing from disabled back to rough or
smooth. Has anyone found a way to reenable the dynamic shapes
without immediately regenerating them? Or maybe being able to
regenerate in batch mode? I wouldn't mind having to pick up and re
place a shape in the area I am working on, just SOMETHING to not
have to sit for an hour or two watching the stop light go from red
to yellow and back again :)
TIA!
