[PCB_FORUM] Re: Post MFG Gerber Panelization. More. Mirrored Drill???

** ...And it's nice in that it balances top and bottom placement
cycle-time. But it's a real bitch for set-up; bareboard and assembly....
We've had CEM's eat extra bareboard cost so as not to deal with additional
placement, conformal coat, and ICT set-up issues.

Best Regards,
-Chris

Yes, I am responding to my own message.

I have looked at a couple cam tools and the big issue seems to be drill
data. Allegro can output the mirrored gerber that I can use to build an AB
panel**, but how to get mirrored drill data. I use lots of blind and
buried vias, so the drill data must reflect the proper layer structure of
the mirrored gerber.

** AB panel is one that has unmirrored data (top facing up) in one
location, then mirrored (bottom facing up) in anther parallel location...
this type of panel works well in a pick and place line for mass production
as the operator does not have to ensure that the panel is face UP.

What tools do you use? I need to do AB panels, so it looks like some less
expensive tools may not fit the bill. AB panels are arrays with the
artwork mirrored for some of the array. Must also array and mirror NC
drill.

Any suggestions? (No, the board shop cannot do this... I need full
control... long story)
