Hi Diane, Well, it sounds like I shouldn't be having the problem that I'm having! But... I can copy any existing padstack, name it "123456789.pad", and it *will not* load into "Pad_Designer" by double clicking it. If I name the copy "12345678.pad", it *will* load in. Hey Cadence guys, any clue? I guess it's time for an ISR. Thanks for your time Diane! Gary E. MacIndoe PCB Design Engineer Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Looks like anything beyond 8 characters does not work for you with the padstack in question. When I rename the "r11x44_mod" to "r11x44m" or "r11x44mo", it will load into "Pad_Designer". For some strange reason, adding that extra "d" (to make "r11x44mod"), causes it to not load. To make it an even stranger situation, "r11x44-m" and "r11x44_m" will also load, but *not* "r11x44-mo" nor "r11x44_mo" (it just doesn't like that third added character?!?). Gary E. I also believe that where the tool is saving the padstack to may not be where allegro is looking for the padstacks. It is a pure rectangular SMT pad with the soldermask modified. Gary E. MacIndoe PCB Design Engineer Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. The problem showed up when I loaded a flash in Allegro. Does this pad stack have a flash? Try to look at it. __________________________________________________ systems agere 76 Sandy Point Road Yarmouth, Maine 04096 USA Richard Weinberg Tel: 207 846 4539 Applications Engineer rweinberg@xxxxxxxxx ReferenceDesigns ___________________________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: Gary MacIndoe [mailto:gary.macindoe@xxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, December 22, 2004 12:56 PM To: icu-pcb-forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Re: Pad designer editor problems Thanks Richard. I have a padstack that I modified from another one with "_mod" at the end (i.e. the padstack is named "r11x44_mod.pad"). Could it be the "_"? I tried replacing the "_" with a "-", then taking it out altogether, same results. Only when I remove the "mod", can I edit the padstack! I can edit ones without the "_mod" all I want.
