That's how I do my allegro.ilinit file also. Much less confusing, and it
works on any version of the tool without mod'ing.  :)

Couple of things.

1) you should have a HOME variable on your computer. set it so it doesn't
get overwritten by new revs of the tool. This is where you'll have a
'pcbenv' folder with a local, user defineable env file for customization.
2) within the pcbenv folder will be the allegro.ilinit file (like shown)
3) view the SKILL codes (xxx.il) and look for axlRegister line. This will
tell you what to type inside allegro to activate the SKILL code. i.e.
ipc_356.il willl tell you to type  ipc 356 <cr> to run the ipc356 netlist
SKILL code. (<cr> means carriage return)
