Are you running on a network?
I am working on a OrCAD/Allegro design that is just a pain on the network, but
moving it to my desktop really made a difference.

I have a board with 800 components and 6500 connections. In the very
beginning stages of layout. I select a part, wait, move part and place,
wait, select another part...
For large databases this is common for me.
My questions:
What platform do others use for large databases.
Any other ideas?
Of course the customer would like the board in house yesterday.
