PCB-forum Community,
Due to the large number of responses, I'm just going to post this here
instead of trying to reply individually to everyone. My Microsoft Access CIS
Database is available from the following link. There are two files in the
directory. The first is the database (populated with our current inventory),
the second is a user manual (incomplete, currently under development).
http://cvs.nesl.ucla.edu/cvs/viewcvs.cgi/NESL_Parts_CIS/
It would be great if we, as a community, could get together and support a
common, open-source, Access database system. I could sure use the help!
<grin>. The link to Digikey works using HTTP and OLE automation of
Microsoft's Internet Explorer. It has been tested on Microsoft Internet
Explorer version 6.0.2800.1106, with all the latest service packs applied.
Basic overview:
There are four forms.
One is for adding new parts (just select Digikey as the supplier, enter the
digikey part number, and the system will fill-in all the remaining fields on
the form by contacting Digikey's site).
Another is for searching for parts in the database (does not contact
Digikey). The search is fuzzy. For example, "res" will match "Resistor",
"Resistors", "resolution", "interesting", etc...
Another is for maintenance.
The last form replaces the database values with the current ones from
Digikey.
The raw data is contained in the "COMMON" table.
Feel free to contact me with feedback, suggestions, questions, and/or
concerns.
Look forward to hearing from everyone.
