Don:
Switching back and forth is a bad idea, there are ALWAYS going
to be problems and most of them are not with the software. There is
ALWAYS going to be round off errors when working with two dissimilar
grids.
If we start a board, it starts in mils and stays that way, even
if it is shipped off-shore for off-hours work. If Japan or Germany
start a board, it is started in millimeters and stays that way even if
it is shipped here for "off-hours" work.
Keep it simple :)

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Metric to English - English
to Metric
I have a customer that does business in Japan
and the US. He would like to be able
to go back and forth between English and Metric
in Allegro 15.2 to supply Metric files
to Japan and English files to the US. I always
seem to have round off errors, which
can create DRC's, disconnects and pad stack
corruption. It seems like you can
minimize the problems, but you can not go
cleanly back and forth with out having to
fix something. If you keep going back and forth
between English and Metric will the
board eventually be corrupt beyond repair. Is
this going to be fixed in Allegro 15.5?
Thanks in advance,
