[PCB_FORUM] Re: Looking for Allegro (with constraints) tie in to Zuken. Can it be done with Specctra file?

Natalie-
Zuken has 2 different PCB layout products. CadStar is the lowend version &
CR5000 is the highend version. Similar to the way that Cadence has OrCad
layout on the lowend & Allegro on the highend. I haven't looked at the
specifics lately, but expect that you would need to use different translators &
flows depending upon which of the two tools you are using.

As others have already said, this type of translation is usually painful &
lossy; since there is never a one to one mapping of data, constraints, etc
between two different design tools.

Good Luck!

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Mitch,

My understanding is that the software is Zuken-Redac not Cadstar. Aren't
they two different pieces of software?
We need back and forth capabilities of translation that includes back
and forth transfer of electrical constraints.

Hi Natalie,

I'm missing something. Are you going from Allegro to Zuken or
visa-versa?
If -to- Allegro, import already shows the capability to import Redac
Cadstar version 7.6

Good day.
