[PCB_FORUM] Re: Is there a way to step and repeat placement for identical circuits on the same PCB?

Hi Mashak,

I'm on 15.7, so I can't take advantage of that feature, but thank you for
the info. Using the placement file worked just fine, and probably as easily
as this new feature Allegro put in to 16.2 to handle this.

Regards,

Austin

  Hi Austin,

If you have an option to use the cadence latest version
SPB16.2 then that has a feature of create circuit replicate. Place one
module and then use the cadence inbuilt feature to place all other similar
section . There will not be any pain to swap components etc...

Route the first one and copy the traces and vias to the rest of the
replicated circuitry.

  Mashak.

  Hi Austin,

I've written a skill utility which does exactly that, you pick a reference
part (ie BGA) and then select the components in the group you want
replicated. I basically build a reference table which i use to map the
placement information.

When you pick the secondary component (has to be the same as reference
part to use mapping information) you then select the secondary group of
components and that group is placed around the secondary part using the
mapping info.

Let me know if you want any further info.

  Cheers, Ben.

    Hi,

I have four identical circuits on one PCB. I want to place (and route)

replicate the placement? I know the routing can just be copied.

    Thanks,
