[PCB_FORUM] Re: Is anyone having Allegro crashing issues using SPB 16.1 and laptop computers?

Is that Vista Enterprise? I tried installing on a Vista Home Premium
machine, and the install simply hangs very near the end of the install.
I gave up. Anybody getting Orcad PCB Designer running on home versions
of Vista?

Dale

SPB16.0 and SPB16.01 w/ the latest hotfix (ISR) has been pretty stable
on Windows XP64 pro and Vista.

1Gig of memory is enough, but the more the better.

Processors tested: Intel Centrino Core2 mobile, AMD 64, and VIA C7

CPU Speed: 1.6 GHz+

Video cards tested: Nvidia, VIA S3, Intel
I didn't enable open GL. 64MB is enough.

VirusScan: Trend Micro has been running very well.
I removed symantec and mcafee which takes a large portion of my memory
and was causing machines to crash. Also turned of Microsofts additionl
security protection in VIsta.

Always remember to install the latest ISR.

Good luck,

Hi Austin,

We noticed that NET_PHYSICAL_TYPE and NET_SPACING_TYPE were missing from
the net properties. These properties are used extensively throughout
our designs. We also noticed that Allegro crashed every time when we
plotted a drawing. Right now, 16.0 isn't right for us at this time.
We're going to try to up-reving in the future when it isn't so busy.

Thanks,

Hi Dale,

What features were missing in 16.0?

Regards,

Austin

We have switched back to 15.7 because of all the crashes and a
few missing features in 16.0.

        Thanks,

We were crashing a lot and cadence told me to download the
latest video driver because open-gl was causing the problem.

After I downloaded the latest driver it is 90% better.

Yes, tons of crashes, Unix A16.01
        Today's flavor routing diffs.
Doing a study with lots of drc's I remember there being an issue
once before regarding that, I wonder if it's a reborn enhancement?
I've also seen this while using the shape functions
create/modify/z-copy.

Is anyone having Allegro crashing issues using SPB 16.1 and
laptop computers?

Have received a few comments of Allegro 16.1 crashing with Dell
M70 Laptops. Can anyone concur with similar problems ( or on any
laptop)?

If so, and better yet, do you know what may be causing this. I
am using a Dell M60 laptop and have had no issues. But I have not yet
started using the 16.1 release of software.
