Kevin,

You are 100% correct.. I have Viewlogic on the Front End and
I have used Modules in my designs many times. As long as
the reference designators match on the schematic side you
are good to go. I thought I saw a procedure, some time ago, to
pass the Module information forward from a Viewlogic schematic
into Allegro but if I remember correctly it was not easy to do and
took a lot of time to setup. All you need to do on the Viewlogic
side is simply copy the schematic page that contains the
Module circuit and increment the reference designators accordingly.

I guess I don't understand.
If I place a module with several symbols it still has individual
symbols, right?
If I have a schematic with all of the same components defined
in it so I get a refdes for each component in the module then
I should be able to assign each of those refdes's to their individual
components. I don't need to call the module from the schematic,
I just need to place the module as one piece and then assign
the refdes's as required. Is this wrong? I can't see where it
would make any difference.
If you do it as you say, it makes sense, but that isn't an option
for the viewlogic user.
For them they would just place and wire up the same pile of stuff
each time or copy it from one schematic to another as necessary.
Am I missing something?
