[PCB_FORUM] Re: Illegal element in SHAPE_SYMBOL

The first things I would check (and you may have already done this) are:

1. Is the "thermal relief" (set in the padstack definition) to
"shape" when a flash is called out OR a "flash" called out if the
thermal relief is to be a shape
2. Is there a *.ssm file (shape symbol) in the library path if the
thermal relief is called out as a "shape"
3. In your user env file, is the setting for
"old_style_flash_symbols" turned OFF - that is under Misc for Setup -
User Preferences

I hope this helps, this stuff can be really frustrating. Good luck!

Best regards,
Pam Loper

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Illegal element in SHAPE_SYMBOL

Getting a lot of errors like this:

W- Couldn't find padstack: C1P3DP9MM
E- Illegal element in SHAPE_SYMBOL
E- because Couldn't find padstack: C1P3DP9MM
Unable to load flash symbol T-1P8MM due to Illegal element in
SHAPE_SYMBOL

These are all coming from a whole new bunch of symbols that I had my
remote office create.

I have all the pads and flash symbols in the right path, and other
footprints load fine from that path, but a select few just don't work
based on similar errors as that above. I am testing these symbols
before I put them into my library, and several have "failed" due to
similar errors... different padstack names and different flash symbol
names... so it is not one single padstack failure.

Any suggestions? Any clues?
